CHEYENNE – The kickoff event for this year’s Cars, Cigars & Guitars Under the Stars charity classic car show was held recently at The Metropolitan Downtown in Cheyenne.
The kickoff celebrated the success of the last event, announced new date and location details and announced the recipients of the most recent fundraising effort. The charity classic car show is a volunteer effort by Cheyenne AHEPA Cowboy Chapter 211 to raise money for local charities.
More than $200,000 was raised in the last four years. All net proceeds from the prior events went to eligible charities; that list includes Girls on the Run, Skills USA, COMEA House and Resource Center, K9’s for Mobility, Unaccompanied Students Initiative, Habitat for Humanity, Safehouse Services, Family Promise, Cheyenne Day of Giving, Meals on Wheels Cheyenne, Needs Inc., South Side Sluggers, Coats for Kids, Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative, Veterans Rock and CASA of Laramie County, in addition to several other local charities.
Last year’s show was nationally televised and can be streamed online at vimeo.com/615314230.
For the 2024 event in August, four local charities have been chosen from many applicants. The recipients are Cheyenne Depot Museum, Rise Foundation of Wyoming, Unaccompanied Students Initiative and (LDTS) Lions Disability Transport Service.
This year’s event will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17 at Frontier Park Exhibition Hall, 1312 W. Eighth Ave. More information can be found online at carscigarsguitars.com.
