- On April 13 the American Wind Energy Association ranked the company first in wind generation ownership among electric utilities. If considered separately, PacifiCorp and another subsidiary of MidAmerican would rank second and first. The combined company also ranks in the top five nationwide among all wind project owners, and in the top five in wind power portfolios among investor-owned utilities.
- The National Renewable Energy Laboratory at the U.S. Dept. of Energy released its 2008 ranking of leading utility green power programs and PacifiCorp ranked in the top five for the past seven years among the more than 850 utilities that offer such programs. PacifiCorp’s Blue Sky program ranked third in the nation for both the number of customers buying renewable power and for renewable power sales volume.
- Earlier in April, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) noted just 24 cities nationally have met the criteria to become Green Power Communities. PacifiCorp-served communities make up half of them. Green Power designation means that a city, town or village meets or exceeds purchase requirements from sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biogas, biomass or low-impact hydro.
- On March 31, the EPA and the U.S. Dept. of Energy recognized PacifiCorp as Energy Star Partner of the Year for its efforts to promote and expand the market for energy-efficient homes.
