JACKSON – Teton County Commissioners, bike fans and friends of Jackson’s pathway system will gather in Teton Village on June 10 to celebrate the opening of a new spur on the pathway that runs north from the Snake River Bridge alongside Wyoming Highway 390 and the Moose-Wilson Road. The new spur runs from the wildly popular pathway into Teton Village.

According to Tim Young, executive director of Friends of Pathways in Jackson, this particular bike path averages 1,500 riders a day in summer. By late fall the pathway will link up with a new trail being built in Grand Teton National Park, where the very first segment broke ground on May 17. The newest trail will extend from the Taggert Lake Trailhead to South Jenny Lake, about five miles, plus a short section extending to the new Craig Thomas Visitor Center.

The success of the bike path has translated into success for local bike rental businesses. According to Young, there are now at least three bike shops within striking distance of the pathway on this side of the valley.
