The awards are a platform for industry to demonstrate and celebrate the advances made in the key areas of environment, efficiency, innovation, corporate social responsibility as well as health and safety.
One example would be AbTech, which created the Smart Sponge. The product absorbs oil but not water, and can absorb up to twice its own weight in hydrocarbons. The sponges can then be used as a fuel source with 320 pounds producing about a megawatt of energy. The product has received 17 U.S. and three international patents.
Another example would be Ryckman Creek Gas Storage, that developed the new interstate gas storage site southwest of Opal. The facility was so successful that its first open season last November resulted in subscriptions more than triple its capacity.
The stories of these companies, and the other finalists, will be told in the upcoming March print edition of the Wyoming Business Report.
The awards will be given at a gala ceremony in Denver on March 12. To attend the event email info@oilandgasawards.com.
