The President and CEO of the Laramie Economic Development Corporation, Gaye Stockman, has announced her resignation from the LEDC effective Feb. 8.

Stockman, who joined the LEDC in May of 2008, has accepted the position of President and CEO of a new economic development group in Mesquite, Nevada.

"My tenure with this organization has been exciting and eventful," Stockman said in a release.  "Recently, however, the opportunity for further growth and development found me here in Laramie ... Sometimes you find it, and sometimes it seeks you. But when a good opportunity presents itself, you have to go for it."

Stockman has been instrumental in getting the Cirrus Sky Technology Park off the ground with a $5.4 million grant through the Wyoming Business Council.

"Gaye has helped champion our mission and our projects while bringing a stellar layer of organization and consistency to LEDC," said Megan Goetz, chair for the LEDC board of directors. "She will be missed and we certainly wish her very well in her future endeavors."

Joe Somodi will serve as interim president and CEO of LEDC. A celebration of Stockman's time with LEDC will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. in the lobby of American National Bank.
