CHEYENNE — A California company that manufactures welded steel tubing is building a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at Cheyenne's Swan Ranch Rail Park.

Searing Industries will employ about 50 people at the new facility when it is operational by the third quarter of this year, including transplants from the company's California operations for some positions.

"We are very pleased to have Searing establish a facility here in Cheyenne, adding to our growing manufacturing sector," said Randy Bruns, CEO of Cheyenne LEADS in a release. "As a family owned and operated business, Searing is a good fit for Cheyenne and I think Cheyenne will be a great fit for Searing."

LEADS partnered with Granite Peak Development, the owner of Swan Ranch, to offer an unspecified incentive package to entice the company into the Cowboy State. Construction of the facility has already begun. Searing has a wide range of facilities in use to produce its tubing, but the Cheyenne building will be its first in Wyoming.

Since 1986, LEADS has helped bring in 70 companies to Cheyenne that have created 4,000 jobs, according to its website.
