"It has been a wonderful opportunity to work for CAEDA, and I look forward to maintaining a positive and productive relationship with CAEDA in the years to come," Scott Sutherland said in a statement upon his resignation as CEO.
CAEDA Vice President Bill Edwards will become interim CEO after Sutherland vacates the position. Sutherland has told news outlets his resignation doesn't stem from any problems or animosity toward CAEDA. He said he may even join the CAEDA board, if it works out.
In a Friday release, CAEDA was complimentary of the job Sutherland did while leading the organization, saying he had made "a significant and positive impact on CAEDA through his work on its strategic plan, the Casper Area Innovation Center and several other strategic projects."
CAEDA asserts it will begin looking for Sutherland's replacement soon.
In the meantime, CAEDA seems confident in Edwards' ability as a longtime Casper resident to keep the ball rolling in the right direction. He has said he plans to focus on projects the organization already has on the table.
"I believe in the positive direction CAEDA has taken and feel confident in a smooth transition and in keeping CAEDA moving forward," Edwards said in a release.
