The biggest contract for a new layer of pavement on a 10-mile section of US 287 north of Rawlins went to McMurry Ready-Mix from Casper. The $11.9 million project will also add a passing lane in each direction between mileposts 19 and 20. The roadwork should be finished by June 30, 2014.
HK Contractors of Idaho Falls submitted the low bid of $2.7 million for patching to extend the life of pavement on highway sections in Lincoln, Sublette, Sweetwater, Teton and Uinta counties. The project will also include installation of concrete pads, retention ponds and liners in six locations to meet environmental regulations for minimizing runoff from stockpiles of the sand-salt mixture used to improved traction on icy and snowy highways. The work is expected to be done by the end of October 2013.
Simon Contractors and Subsidiaries from Cheyenne won a $1.8 million contract for pavement patching on highway sections in Albany and Laramie counties by Sept. 30, 2013. Simon also was awarded a $1.5 million contract for milling off deteriorating pavement and replacing it with a new layer of asphalt on 1.8 miles of US 30 (East Lincolnway) between College Drive and Big Horn Avenue in Cheyenne. The project also will bring sidewalks along the highway into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The contract completion date is Sept. 30, 2013.
Mountain Construction out of Lovell won a $1.3 million contract to remove deteriorating pavement from three miles of WYO 137 southwest of Riverton and replace it with a new layer of pavement and a chip seal by Aug. 31, 2013.
B. Jackson Construction Group of West Jordan, Utah was the low bidder at $464,000 for a project to replace deteriorating concrete slabs on I-80 at various locations between Arlington and the Wagonhound Interchange and in Laramie. The contract completion date is Aug. 31, 2013.
Habitat Construction of Rocky Ford, Colo., won a $372,000 contract to repair flood damage to the Lower Nowood Road (Big Horn County Road 43½) bridge over Paintrock Creek southwest of Hyattville. Fill material and rock will be installed under the bridge to address erosion around the abutments and piers caused by flooding in 2011. The work is expected to be done by April 30, 2013.
