The first annual Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Awards nominations will be closing on Nov. 30. So far, the nominations have been coming in at a steady rate, with about 15 nominations per category in the region. That changed when Oil and Gas CEO Daniel Creasey sent out an announcement urging companies to self-nominate.

"Whilst we have received some third party nominations, 90 percent of entry submissions have come directly from organizations putting themselves forward," Creasey wrote. "Please do not wait to be nominated. I can assure you that your competitors are entering without being nominated."

"The phones went crazy after that," Oil and Gas Awards spokesperson Marc Brigdon told the Wyoming Business Report. "These awards are fairly new, and I don't think people realized that they could nominate themselves."

Creasey also stressed the importance of publicizing Health & Safety, Environmental and CSR activities done during 2012. "Many of you have great initiatives worthy of being submitted as an entry detailed on your websites," he said. "With so many trade and non-trade publications [including the Wyoming Business Report] partnering the event we really want to be able to demonstrate how seriously the industry takes these core values."

Visit www.oilandgasawards.com for full details on the awards and to submit your entries. Entries will be judged by a panel of industry CEOs and the awards ceremony will be held in Denver next March.
