The 10th annual GRO-Biz Conference and Idea Expo will be held in Laramie this year, at the Hilton Garden Inn on Feb. 22 and 23.The event will help participants learn how to sell their product or services to a multi-billion-dollar market. A key aspect of the conference will feature networking opportunities with the people who make the buying decisions for state and federal governments.
Conference organizers say that there will be more than 50 federal and state contracting officers from at least 30 different agencies in attendance.
Keynote speakers will be Sen. Mike Enzi, Richard Phenneger and Michael Bachofen. Enzi is a former small business owner and current advocate for small business and rural interests. Phenneger owns Phenneger & Associates Inc., a firm specializing in the design, financing and transaction management of employee stock ownership plans.
Bachofen is the chief of contracting for the National Park Service, Intermountain Region, and has worked as a federal procurement officer for various agencies since 1994. Bachofen manages a team of 70 contracting officers who provide contracting support to 91 park units in Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Contracting workshops will include Understanding Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Source Selection, GSA Contracting Opportunities, Bonding, Selling to the State of Wyoming and more.
General business workshops include topics like using cloud technologies, researching the growing mobile audience, employee health management options, developing an intellectual property strategy and more.
In addition, there will be representatives from Wyoming’s many agencies that support small business: the U.S. Small Business Administration, Wyoming Entrepreneur Procurement Technical Assistance Center and the Small Business Development Center, the Wyoming Business Council and the University of Wyoming.
